Episode 5 and 6 of Homecoming weren't as revealing as I thought they'd be. They left it on a cliff hanger, so now I have to continue listening to Season 2. We do know that the goal of erasing the soldier’s memory works considering Walter doesn’t remember how his friend died, or even the Titanic Rising joke. Heidi seems to be really concerned with the fact that they are erasing years of the soldiers’ memories, and planning to deploy them again, which I think is beyond messed up. It’s strange because all of this happened in only six weeks, and now Walter is getting ready to leave for deployment again. The one thing we learn is that Shrier ended up going crazy after he left and stopped his medication; he literally bit off a chunk of his tongue and tried to kill himself, the medication clearly has strong effects.
I am curious to find out what happens to Heidi now that she’s in the van with Thomas from Department of Defense. I am assuming that part of the reason she forgets her job from that point of life is because she ate the medicated food with Walter. But I highly doubt that one serving of the food could make her forget everything that happened during her years of working there. Collin was talking to Temple at the end of episode 6 and we learn that the medicine can start to ware off like it did to Heidi because she visited the base again years later and heard the parrot, and started to remember things. So, I think that Collin or someone higher up in the program must have given her a lot more medication than what she originally ate in the cafeteria. I’m thinking that Collin was so mad at Heidi for giving Collin more of the medication and even eating it herself, that he decided to “teach her a lesson” and show her what the medication can really do.
I am interested to see what happens with Walter since they can't figure out where his current location is right now. Maybe we’ll learn that he eventually finds Heidi again and that they figure everything out, especially because the final minutes of episode 6 are them talking about their road trip to Alaska. So I’m excited to listen to season 2 and hear what happens with them.
